Hi, I’m Barbara Nelson. If you’re expecting a baby, you’re probably feeling excited—but also a little overwhelmed. I understand because I’ve spent over a decade helping parents navigate newborn feeding. I understand the challenges that sometimes come with feeding a baby. Some are preventable while others are ineluctable.
There’s so much information out there—some helpful, some conflicting, and some that just adds to the stress. My goal is to help parents cut through the noise, understand what’s actually important, and feel confident in caring for their baby. The educational materials you’ll find throughout this site are designed to empower you with knowledge and confidence, helping you make informed decisions about feeding your baby. They encourage you to trust your instincts and learn to watch your baby's cues which I believe is the most important skill a parent can have.
My Background & Experience
I’ve worked in newborn feeding and lactation support for over 10 years, supporting families as they learn to care for their babies. Over time, I saw the same worries come up again and again—
How do I know my baby is eating enough?
What if feeding doesn’t go as planned?
Do I need all these baby products, or are they just clever marketing?
I think something’s wrong but my doctor isn’t worried.
The truth is, newborns don’t follow a perfect schedule, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to feeding. But there are things you can understand ahead of time that will make this phase easier, help you identify issues before they snowball, and get you back on track quickly.
Why I Created This Course
I put this course together because I wanted to offer something that refocuses parents on infant cues, values parent intuition, and quiets the noise (AKA outdated advice and aggressive marketing)—a resource that helps you feel prepared without adding to your to-do list. It’s not about following a strict plan, but about understanding your baby’s cues and feeling confident in your own decisions.
If you’re feeling uncertain, that’s completely normal. But you’re more capable than you think, and with the right knowledge, you can start this journey feeling calm and in control. If you’d like a simple, practical guide to newborn feeding, you can explore my course here: Newborn Feeding Course.
